What is Camp NaNoWriMo?
Well, NaNoWriMo = National Novel Writing Month, which takes place in November. The goal is to write a novel in a month! Considering it's July, you may be wondering what I'm doing. Well, Camp NaNoWriMo is the summer camp version of the November NaNoWriMo. You get assigned to "cabins" and receive "care packages" and most importantly, it keeps track of your word/page count goals and calculates how long it will take you to finish your novel.
My Progress
I am so excited to be a part of my 1st Camp NaNoWriMo! As you know, I'm writing my 1st novel and Camp is going to be my way to stay on track. My end-goal is to write 15,000 words. This may not seem like a lengthy goal, and to be honest, it's not. Depending on the genre, a completed manuscript will total about 50,000 words. Since I'm just beginning my author journey, I didn't want to set my goal too high and fail.
So, how am I doing after week 1?
My average word count per day is 425. My suggested daily goal is 484 and the words per day I need to complete my goal by the end of the month is 481.
I'm a little shy of my goal. However, I did initially set my goal to 10,000 words and after breaking my daily goal, I bumped it up to 15,000 words.
So far, I've written 2,979 words and have 12,021 to go. At this rate, I'll reach 15,000 words by August 5th.
Goals for Week 2
My goal for week 2 is to hit 485 words per day. By the end of the week I want to have another 3,395 words on the page.
